SANTA BARBARA CLASS SCHEDULE Level I Beginning Hoopdance 6 week session For more information call Santa Barbara City Recreation Fitness 805 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Level 1 Beginner Description In this class you'll learn the basics of horizontal
and vertical plane, and off-body hooping. We'll practice floating
the hoop over the head, returning it to the waist, and moving the
hoop up the body without using hands. Class also includes vertical
on-body work, partner and small group work, and fun, basic movement
sequences. By the end of the 5 weeks, you'll have enough practice
and knowledge to dance freely in the hoop with heightened spatial
and body awareness. Level 2 Advanced Beginner Description This continues the beginner series. We'll hone the following skills already touched on: upper body hooping with addition of alternating arms in and out of the hoop; leg hooping and moving the hoop up and down from hips to legs; leaping; and tossing. We'll also continue with more advanced sequencing and work the class at a sustained pace for a good cardiovascular work-out. And as always, we'll be working from a place of centered presence while observing our bodies and allowing them to teach us.

CLASS TESTIMONIALS I keep telling people that hooping has changed my life and I really mean it. Sara’s classes have offered me a safe, supportive space to reconnect to my body and playfully express myself through the hoop. I appreciate her focused, patient instruction that is heavy on positive reinforcement. She gives lots of individual attention and makes us each feel welcome and included. Her demonstrations and performances are full of positive energy and inspiration for what is possible for each of us (with a little practice). This has been nothing but a positive experience for me. Thank you, Sara. ~ Stacia Young, Santa Barbara
Sara Munro is “Hula Hoops in Motion”. I met her at my 60th birthday party where she entertained the guests with a fire hoop dancing performance. She was AWESOME!! Since then, I have been taking her hoop dancing class, which is a total workout and so much fun. Santa Barbara badly needed this “fun” alternative form of exercise. I am glad we have Sara to teach and entertain us. ~ Selma Baker, Santa Barbara
Sara Munro is a gifted hoopdance teacher. She has the talent and convinces you that it is in you too. Her passion is contagious and inspiring. Her method is supportive. Accidents become opportunities. With each hoopdance class Sara imparts constructive lessons that build the body and the mind in ways that are fun and make you remember the pleasure in play. ~ Marc Phillips, Santa Barbara
